Hey guys, as the question states.
Rules and General Information.
Full list of thyroid lab tests.
Hi there, hypo for over 10 years. I start losing the middle to outside of my eyebrows, this normally only happens when my meds are off. No one would ever know unless they saw my shower. My hairline got very thin on the sides it thinned out long enough to give me grief but not long enough to be a real problem.
Diagnosed with hypo when I was thirteen.
Lost a bunch of hair on my top head. Not sure if it will ever grow back to the way it was since I’m pretty sure it’s partially attributed to genetics, Though, I went for 5 6″ years without treatment because I didn’t have health insurance from ages 18 Recently had my dosage increased and I’ve noticed that it’s starting to grow back. A well-known fact that is.
Female here, this gets me really riled up because I suspect that I was undiagnosed for years based on my severity symptoms and being too medically naive to ask for my blood test results. At nineteen my hair started noticeably thinning particularly at my crown, and a bit on the sides. Have you heard about something like this before, am I correct? Actually, I wasn’t the one who initially noticed. Now pay attention please. Shitty. Nearly any doctor I cried to said the same things over and over, everyone loses hair in the shower!
Thankfully I’ve learned to style efficiently enough to cover the thin areas, I still can’t wear my hair down without my white scalp shining through. I still miss the thick, healthy hair that I used to have, even though I’ve learned to not let my hair weigh down my selfesteem. You have my sympathy. Even before being hypo, I had alopecia areata. They work really well, if you are willing/able to spend some money on them. Just keep reading. Always got tons of compliments. Now regarding the aforementioned fact… Anymore, my hair is thin but no bald spots, and stark almost white! Last time a patch fell out on one side, I actually shaved the sides and sported an almost white mohawk for a few months. As a result, everything is growing fine right now, and I hope to have a cute little whitish pixie in time for my wedding by December end.
It feels really validating to be understood, thank you for that.
It’s priceless. For those of us who deal with strategic stress styling it’s a very real issue, it seems like such a vain thing to be consumed by to someone to hasn’t experienced it. I’m sure it sounds familiar.|Doesn’t it sound familiar, am I correct?|Sounds familiar?|doesn’t it, am I correct? let’s say something happens like a person’s ring catches a strand of hair and yanks it out. Although, right now I’m actually doing okay with acceptance. Also, just today I actually got my first professional haircut in five years, Actually I always had my sister cut it because she was the only one I felt comfortable sharing my vulnerable scalp with.
Thank you for sharing your story with me. I do hope you feel confident in your hair on your wedding day, in whatever way is best for you! Congrats on the professional hair cut! Consequently, going to the salon can be a nice treat when you have the confidence to relax and enjoy it.
Like enough to knit a sweater, diagnosed hypo this spring, only started losing hair at a noticeable rate the past ’18 24′ months!
Anyhow, it is likely to be losing all over, not in one specific area. Interested to know how it works if anyone else uses it..
