My wigs were all synthetic since they are easier to care for.
One downside is that I could not use heat styling ols on them.
I have also heard that human hair wigs are hotter on your head, that is a major downside to wigs actually. Less washing, and suchlike like real hair. I’d look for a wig shop in your area and go try both. Synthetic styles keep the shape and style better than the human hair wigs. I didn’t style them much, I’m quite sure I just chose short styles that I could brush, shape and go, in order to be honest though.
Good luck with chemo!!!!
They don’t work all year round but winter and fall they’re great.
Therefore this site sells some really great ones. Thank you very much for sharing the headscarf tutorials! Another option is to get hats with hair, or wigs, attached to them. I’m aiming to write another post about hair loss for some time. Which caused her to lose all her hair, as a child Sara battled nephroblastoma. It’s the inside that matters, This experience stuck with her and she wanted young girlsgoing through hair loss to realize that it was not what’s on the outside that makes you beautiful. Then, one quote from this article that really hit home for me ‘wasSelf esteem’ takes a lot longer to grow back than hair. I was inspired by this article about Clare Bowen from the show Nashville who recently cut off her long beautiful hair. For instance, losing your hair forces you to confront problems of self esteem and work on yourself from the inside out.
Flat or Volume. Some synthetic wigs are created with ‘pre made’ volume.
The last thing you seek for is a wig so thin, your bald head shows through the wefts.
Wigs that appear more flat tend to be thinner and are harder to style and amp up. They are easier to style and look more natural from my point of view. Overall I love the volumized wigs being that you have more hair to work with, sometimes this volume is that gives the look of volume. My biggest suggestion when picking a wig is NOT to pick one that looks like your hair was before chemotherapy. In any circumstances please do not rule out any styles until you give them a try. I’m sure you heard about this. So thing is, they won’t make you look exactly like you did before chemo as long as you’ve changed and you’ll see yourself differently, the wigs these days are amazing and they look like real hair. Go on and leave the hair loose around the ears to hide the edge of the wig.
I found it was easier to embrace the new me in a tally new look rather than try to wear a cut color that mimicked the old me.
Another plus to the shorter styles is they get less tangled and are cooler to wear.
Know what guys, I have found my two short wigs to be my favorites, I’m almost sure I never thought I liked short hair on my face shape. I used this trick when I was in a friend’s wedding and wanted to match the other girls’ updos. One way to cool down and minimize tangling is to pull the long wiginto a low bun or twist. I did that with my first wig and I rarely wear it. Long wigs can be hot and get very tangled. You can easily try out that hairstyle or color you never had the guts to try before. A well-known fact that is. I had long dark brown hair prior to chemo and almost any time I put on that long brownish wig, By the way I find myself saddened and frustrated striving to make the wig look like my old hair. Now on to wigs, that I have found to be so fun! Remember, maybe you love that short sassy redish look or the long blonde curls.
I have organized the most important information into six categories and I hope you find it helpful.
Wig shopping is a process and I don’t look for you to go in blind. Before you go shopping, do your research.
Trying on multiple wigs gonna be fun and it will give you a chance to see yourself in a brand new light. It’s your chance to take a tally new persona and let a tally new side of you shine through. Notice that own it and your confidence will radiate. Make an appointment at a wig salon and go in with an open mind, whenever you’ve done your research. I am constantly exhausted and it seems that life never slows down.
I am striving to keep some semblance of my normal life and I am still working full scale aside from chemo and recovery days.
It’s a problem to find the time or the energy to write and all I seem to seek for to do is sleep.I guess that’s just cancer sometimes you just don’t have energy for anythingelse but survival and I am learning to accept that.
With that said, this chemo thing is no joke, I apologize for the delay in posting. So it’s difficult to tell the major differences in the pictures, I’m almost sure I have included pictures of both on me below.
The huge issue I have found with these wigs is that lots of us are aware that there is no hair to blend with the lace so the spot where the hairs attach to the lace seems to stand out more on my skin.
Lace Front Wig or Basic CapWig?
Ultimately, in my opinion it depends on the style of the wig. Because you can tuck plenty of hair back without it showing the wig edges, I have found full cap wigs with volume and bangs to be better. Lace front wig with bangs will resolve this issue and make the hairline seem more natural. I have tried both and I have to say for me, in my opinion the basic capwigs work better. Then again, the full capwigs besides have a thick edge along the hairline and are not meant to blend as naturally. Loads of information can be found by going online. The lace front wigs have a lace edge that is trimmed along your hairline and the base where the hairs attach to the lace is meant to blend with your scalp and natural hair.
You can’t pull your hair back on these wigs since the edge will show.
They are usually blown away to learn that they are not my natural hair.
Highlights all the way. I can’t stress this enough! I want to ask you something. Highlights or Monotone? Write look for a wig with highlights Therefore in case you look for the wig to look natural. I have had so many people compliment me when I am wearing my wigs.
We as women struggle with hair loss, as long as hair is tied to our identity, as I mentioned in my last post about hair.
I don’t need strangers to know I have cancer and I don’t look for to draw attention to myself in that way.
For awesome scarf tying tutorials have a look at YouTube, specifically this channel by Zukreat. While beautiful make me feel like I’m screaming I HAVE CANCER, hats, and head scarves. Hair is an ol for quickly changing our appearance to stay current with the recent fashion trends and it helps us fit in. They have loads of beautiful gently used scarves. As a result, for those of you who seek for to go the head scarf route, By the way I would suggest you first check with your cancer hospital resource center. Needless to say, I look for to shed light on the kinds of other resources available for those of you that haven’t worked up the courage to go bald yet or just don’t like that look on yourself, as much as I was working on my selfconfidence and rocking the bald head at times.
