I know that the medical term for hair loss is alopecia.
Anxiety can, in that’s yet one more study among numerous others over past decade that has concluded Dutasteride to be significantly superior to Finasteride in regrowing hair.
It seems like Dutasteride is effective at growing hair irrespective of one’s ethnicity and genetics.
Plenty of such studies seem to come from western world so I am glad that this one comes from India. To end this year, I wanted to find something else to write about that was unique, not repetitive, and not it’s basically Finasteride on steroids. Most of us are aware that there are plenty of internet testimonials that you can find of old men who got on Dutasteride and saw hair growing on parts of their scalp that were bald for decades. That said, you can also read about some great positive results of using Dutasteride to treat hair loss in comments to this post.
More benefits as well as more after effect than Finasteride.
I was very pleased to learn that he very recently started using Dutasteride to treat his hair loss.
He is documenting his results with photos here. I have mentioned Spencer a few times on this blog before. He has had around 10 large and small hair transplants over years and is featured in numerous newspaper stories about hair loss. Over toyears, I have read many online anecdotal reports of older men who were taking Dutasteride to treat enlarged prostates and saw hair growth in areas of scalp that were tally bald for decades. Albeit usually just some amount of it, dutasteride likely helps bring back long lost hair in many patients. That’s interesting. Still a decent results when considering that virtually all of the balding men would have seen a decline in hair count at 24 weeks without treatment. Then, in really similar study, 45 men were also treated with Finasteride 1 mg once a day and saw about a 2 percent increase in hair count at 24 weeks.
Earlier day Joe Tillman released an excellent and very instructive video for those who are thinking of getting a hair transplant.
Joe’s transformation had been very impressive and he is very honest about all edges and falws of his new transplanted hair.
It’s quite obvious that follicles is different from follicular units or grafts. Generally, fYI click on title of below video to open in a separate page. I did not realize that he has had 25000 hair follicles moved from back of his scalp to front and crown of his scalp over toyears. I still can not believe his before and after hair transplanttransformation considering that his first two bad hair transplants occurred almost 24 years ago. I liked below finding. To more interesting facts of this particular study is that authors also measured what amount miniaturized/miniaturizing hairs became thick once again.
And so it’s unclear how many if majority of to thin hair that became thicker were vellus hair that had shrunk many years or even decades earlier.
While Finasteride 1 mg led to a reduction in thin hair count by 5 percent at 24 weeks, in this particular study, Dutasteride 5 mg led to a reduction in thin hair count by 12 percent at 24 weeks.
That’s important since it shows that5 alpha reductase inhibitors similar to Finasteride and Dutasteride can bring back hair from todead/almost dead/slowly dying. Hair loss forum members all over world were going berserk with excitement, when Dutasteride first came out onto market in 2002. I miss those days when it seem liked Dutasteride was ultimate cure for hair loss and everyone was counting days till pending product release with extreme levels of hope and hysteria. Accordingly the drug was not a miracle for most people who already had significant hair loss.
